Thea and John, thank you for being epic.
Thank you Sahid of limonphotography for rocking your second shooting skills and putting up with my mad ADD
Something about Allison and Nick and weather During their engagement session, it turned from sunny to hail, down pouring rain, and lighting flashes. Why did we expect anything different at their wedding? 10 minutes after the ceremony, the skies darkened and opened up with water and lightning. Allison and Nick? Happily married and amazingly chill.
Allison and Nick, thank you so much for letting me celebrate with you and your family. Thank you for blessing me with your joy.
As a little kid I always loved looking out the window of my plane as we flew over the mid-west. What shocked me were the patchwork creations of many round, circular crops.
Being from California, we didn’t have Center Pivots where I grew up. We had Avocados, strawberries, and just about any type of fruit or vegetable you could think of. It wasn’t until I moved out to Colorado that I saw Center Pivots. Round, circular irrigation systems that go around a farm providing water and fertilizer to crops like corn.
I’m amazed at how they seem to stretch the horizon and how vastly important they are.
How can we begin to describe this beautiful wedding we were blessed to document. Rebecca and Jacob have a beautiful love for each other, and an amazing love story with their Savior that took center stage at their intimate San Luis Obispo, California destination wedding.
Everything about this wedding was beautiful, personal, and inspiringly honest. With just close family gathered around the lakeside dock of their grandparents’ home (who have been married for over 50 years!), they gave deeply personal vows that committed their lives to each other as they walked in Christ’s love and leading. Beautiful flowers were generously donated from neighbors’ gardens to adorn the ceremony site with fragrance and beauty. Rebecca looked absolutely stunning in her dress. And Jacob’s humility, confidence, and exuberant love for his wife spoke volumes in times where words were simply not enough.
Even more so, Rebecca and Jacob got away to the secluded shores of Montana De Oro to enjoy an intimate first dance serenaded by stringed instruments accompanied by the crashing of the Pacific.
It is easy to see why we have fallen in love with their story and intimate weddings.
Rebecca and Jacob, a heartfelt congratulations on the beginning of your beautiful story. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for blessing us with your love, your generosity, and your celebration.
Honestly, ever since I left the snow blanketed state of Kansas from Rachel and Nathan’s wedding, I have had a smile on my face. Nathan and Rachel share an infectious chemistry for one another and a passion and zeal for life that inspires everyone around them. It was an amazingly cold day and Rachel and Nathan held their first look on top of a snowy dike just outside Saint John’s Military Academy. Looking back on their first look, I am met with memories of pure happiness, coming away feeling utterly and completely blessed to have shared in their love and celebration…if even just for moments as long as 1/200th of a second. One thing made this wedding even more special to me – Alyssa was able to come along and rock her mad photography skills with me.
I absolutely love photographing military weddings and truly appreciate the sacrifice and dedication to our country that not only our soldiers display every day, but their spouses as well. We offer a 10% discount for all active military.
Rocking the video was Matt from Baysinger Films.
With my last California Wine Country wedding wrapped up just a few weeks ago, I find myself starting to look at what an incredible journey this year has been. Alyssa and I moved closer to Denver and Fort Collins, a long time goal of ours. We decided to intentionally slow down and just take on a few weddings this year because of the biggest news we have had yet…the arrival of Carter Thomas Stebner this summer. So with our abbreviated year in the books, we are now able to take a look back at what an amazing year it has been and look forward to what is already shaping up to be an incredible 2013 wedding with shoots lined up from California to North Carolina, and everywhere in-between. We cannot wait for another year filled with wedding art.
Art is truly the expression of one’s soul. In a photographer’s case, it’s the heart breaking free with something to say in the opening and closing of a shutter in thousands of a second. I’ve not only seen how my art has grown this year, but also how I have grown. It gives me a glimpse into where I’m going and who I want to become. With a new family, I’ve been desperately trying to remove distractions in life and just focus on the simplicity that drives my soul. That is, to remove anything that’s not from God..anything that takes away from my family and His will. This is true in my art, and no doubt why you see more black and white images focusing on the relationships between light and shadow, emotion and the moment. As I have been desperately seeking to remove clutter from my life and heart, I find myself seeking minimalism that much more. Minimalism and simplicity isn’t boring and it sure isn’t easy. Simplicity is timeless. Simplicity is beautiful. After all, love is simple. It’s the unwavering, all-giving expression that comes from the depth of who you are. We know when we are in love…there’s no wavering or second guessing. It’s simple nature resonates with us and changes the course of our lives. I think that is what is going to drive me towards simplicity that much more. I will still be using my off camera lighting techniques, I’ll never give that up, so don’t worry But above all else, this is just a confession to everyone that I am just yearning for the simple life…my heart desires only what matters and nothing else. I want my wedding art to focus only on what matters: the story, the love, the beauty, the emotion…the people.
These are a few favorites. These are not a “best of”. These images are simply ones that made me smile a little more at night and when I woke up in the morning.
Thank you to all of our brides who trusted us with your most important and beautiful day. We were so blessed by our experiences at each one of your weddings. Words cannot express how thankful we are for your trust and inspiration.

Thank you Sheila and John for letting me Celebrate with you at your Santa Rosa, CA wedding. You truly make being a wedding photographer a blessing.
Gavin and Kerry, your sincere and heartfelt love is amazing

My oh my, I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for quite some time.
Cayla has been a good friend of Alyssa’s for as long as I can remember, and she was even in our wedding party. Cayla left for school at the Culinary Institute of America and we soon started hearing more about a nice guy named Mark than we did about her amazing cooking. Soon we got the call that she was engaged and were so excited to be joining her and her family for an intimate wedding at the beautiful Beaver Creek Lodge in Garden City, Utah.
A big shout out to Matthieu Ryan Photographer for second shooting

A month ago I had the opportunity to do Cayla’s bridal session for a special gift to her parents. We met up at the Poudre River Nature Preserve at sunset for some beautiful bridal portraits. Cayla and Mark had an AMAZING destination wedding in Utah, and I can’t wait to share their wedding images…but I’ve been waiting a month to share these, so here ya go
This last photograph is near and dear to my heart as I’m sure it is also to Cayla. Her brother is an American Hero who gave his life in the Iraq war. She wanted to make a portrait in her wedding dress with her brother and give the print to her mom. I’m not sure I”ve been moved like this by an image. Cayla, thank you for allowing us to photograph how beautiful you are.
