Whew, this was such an incredibly busy weekend that was equally as epic and awesome. Alyssa and I have both been out with the Flu and dealt with it a little bit over the weekend, but we survived! Saturday we ventured down to Larkspur to photograph an amazing wedding then quickly jetted up to Loveland for an amazing stylized wedding shoot.  I guess I just love being a Loveland, Colorado Wedding Photographer!

Some quick notes, the vendors (which will be listed at the bottom) showed up in amazing fashion and were, in no short supply of words, incredible at bringing their talents to collaboratively work together to create something beautiful and different. The Embassy Suites in Loveland is the real deal and their friendly staff, amazing amenities definitely made it a place we’re staying on the regular. Lastly, the models were absolutely GORGEOUS! (as you can tell).

It was such a relaxing and fun day, and I hope you enjoy the images as much as I do!

Going through all the images this morning of Tim and Megan’s wedding, one thing was evident from the bride and groom, family, and every attendee, tremendous love and emotion. There was so much emotion and love in this wedding that it just blessed the heart. You might remember them from their ENGAGEMENT SESSION.

Alyssa and I had been recovering from the flu (not much fun) and luckily my fever broke just before the ceremony. Don’t worry, we were still up at 5:00 am and early to the wedding :) That’s just how we roll. But it was so nice to finally feel “normal” again and enjoy such an amazing wedding.

They were married at the wonderful Perry Park Country Club in Larkspur, Colorado , definitely one of my favorite venues ever! The gorgeous views, amazing staff, and great service were top notch. Enjoy today, and I hope you are moved by the love evident in these photos.

Tim and Megan, thank you so much for being a genuinely awesome couple full of life and love,

Scott & Alyssa

I LOVE family photos. They are so incredibly important, and often times you get moments like this in between the photos. You can see just how proud she is of Megan.

And a very  stylish Usher

Every once in a while, everything just comes together right and leaves you walking away with no other choice but to raise your fist in the air and say well done my friends, you rock.

Maree and Brian are the cutest, nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet and we had an absolute blast getting to know them since their engagement session.  Many froyo’s since their engagement session, we have really grown to respect and appreciate their love for each other and just how special it is that they offered us the chance to be a part of their wedding day. Taking place on Brian’s Beautiful estate in North Eastern Colorado, this butterfly themed wedding was just beautiful.

Rachael and Sean are such a sweet, fun, genuine and laid back couple and their North Eastern Colorado Wedding was just as sweet. From a beautiful ceremony, one heck of a father daughter dance, and plenty of laughter, it was a beautiful end to our wedding season Thank you Rachael and Sean for being such a great couple and we wish you nothing but the best for your beautiful marriage. Thanks again to Amanda Tipton for rocking the second shooting and driving out to what seemed like the middle of nowhere :) You rock

Hey guys, I’m super excited for today’s blog post that features a couple we shot as part of our style shoot we did for the Embassy Suites in Loveland, Colorado.

As a Loveland Colorado Wedding Photographer, I like being unique in our style shoots and lighting is a huge part of that. We’ve received tons of emails with how we lit these shots, and this was one of our favorite photos of the shoot and we managed to take a snap shot of the set up during our pre-lighting.

First Off: When you have time, scout the location and pre-light the shots. This will make the shoot go much quicker and helps the models have confidence in you because they’ll turn out perfectly the first time and will go very quickly. A quick snap shot from my Android phone…one day I’ll get an IPHONE :)

About the set-up.  Our goal was to take an ordinarily lit hallway and create a moody portrait for the hotel. Using some techniques inspired by JOEY L, I had a 54″ octabank set high and feathered away from the couple. This accomplished a few things. First of all, it eliminated the hot spots that come out of the center of the light and it created a soft, feathered light that had subtle highlight to shadow transitions. We had the flash at very low power and relatively close to the couple to not have much spill of light into the scene.

The second light was a Geled Alien Bee 800 with a #20 grid. This was to give a bit of separation on the hair with the background. I chose the Orange gel to help balance ambient light color temperatures, but more importantly to give a bit of a moody feel to it. Without the gel it just gave a bit of a “I obviously lit this” feel. It was set at 1/16th power.

And just a Recap

Lens: Canon 24-70 L
